Matthew Finch

A prolific composer and arranger, Matt Finch has been singing and performing since he was a small child. At secondary school he sang in three different youth choirs – going on tour, singing in recording studios, and performing big choral works in the Royal Chapel of St. George’s Windsor.

Musical Director for Bath Light Operatic Group for over 25 years, Matt completed his music degree at Bath Spa University where he conducted the choir and orchestra. Two years later he completed his MA in Composing Music for Film, TV & Theatre at Bristol University, for which he received full sponsorship from Cameron Mackintosh.

Since Lockdown Matt has recorded six virtual choirs on video which led him to organise Choirshow – a live broadcast of 13 virtual choirs of over 250 singers which has already had over 1200 views and has raised over £1000 for charity.

Returning to his classical roots to direct this very special performance of Mozart’s Requiem, Matt will combine his wide experience of conducting choral music with his love of teaching. He believes in positivity and will always challenge individuals and choirs to push themselves a little bit further out of their comfort zone – as this is where the magic happens!
